Thoughts on Comments

I love getting comments.

Comments are the reason I write in a public forum, rather than scribbling notes down in my personal diary.  (That, and the fact that I once had someone snoop in my personal diary.  And I vowed never to record my personal feelings somewhere were they might be found ever again.)

I also read and comment on a lot of blogs.  I know how much time it takes to attempt to compose thoughtful, witty little snippets of brilliance in those comment fields.  I also know how discouraging it can be to repeatedly visit someone’s blog and repeatedly comment your little heart out… and never hear a peep back.  It sucks.

So here’s my philosophy on comments.  I do my very best to respond in some way to the comments I get… either by email, by Twitter or, preferably, by stopping by to see what you’ve been up to.  But sometimes it takes me a while to respond.  If you don’t hear back from me, I’m probably either working, cleaning up someone’s poop, or trying to get through the next level of Angry Birds on my iPad.  Important stuff like that.

But I’m reading.  And I will try my best to get back to you when I can.  Unless you’re trying to sell me Viagra.  Or are “just visiting from XYZ blog… please follow me back!”  In which case, you may not hear back from me.

Otherwise, I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment.  I read and appreciate each and every one.  Your words bring me inspiration, encouragement and a lot of laughter.
